Carving
Preserving the art of woodcarving – Saving traditional Indian Art in the World Peace Center is encouraged through the framework of our project, “Save Indian Art”. Maintaining this art of carving is an important aspect of the WPC. Woodcarvers are schooled in the traditional symbolic meaning of religious figures – ancient wisdom should be preserved. A high quality of formal and technical prowess is demanded. Each figure is uniquely carved by hand. Figures from all religions are represented. The WPC creates workplaces to guarantee whole families an income. The carver here is working on a Shiva figure.
